Microsoft introduces more secure defaults for Azure Storage

Now this I like to see! Microsoft has announced that going forward by default encryption will now be turned on for Azure Blobs, Files, Tables and Queue Storage.

Way to go Microsoft!

This is great news. This helps to ensure that customer data is protected at rest when in the Microsoft Cloud, and is backed by their own key management systems. That means that all data that is written into Azure storage will be automatically encrypted by Storage service prior to persisting, and decrypted prior to retrieval. Encryption and decryption are completely transparent to the user.

What's even better is there is no additional charge for this, and there is no degradation in service. I love it when our cloud services get better and don't cost anything extra!
